Dubai Voluntary Diving Team

The team was established in Dubai in 1995 and continues to volunteer in the UAE by cleaning
fishing and dive sites from harmful objects, which affect the environment. The team consists of
both male and female divers from several nationalities, who are citizens of the United Arab
Emirates and from several international diving organizations such as PADI and NAUI etc. The
team has sufficient resources in terms of number and equipment to carry out its tasks to the
fullest and at various distances and depths. The team welcomes any licensed diver who wants to volunteer and participate with the team (conditions apply).

Responsibilities:

  • Spread the culture of volunteerism and deploy environmental awareness among divers and non-divers.
  • Clean and remove harmful objects from the marine environment.
  • Work for the Environmental Initiatives.
  • Coordinate with official authorities within UAE by providing volunteers in case of accidents and any environmental events if necessary.

Emirates Diving Association

The Emirates Diving Association (EDA) is a registered non-profit NGO accredited by UNEP as an International Environmental Organization. EDA’s mission is to conserve, protect and restore the UAE’s marine resources by emphasizing and promoting the underwater environment and environmental diving. EDA organizes special annual events and activities exclusively for Members and Partners. Divers are passionate environmentalists, and they inspire each other through their love of the oceans to protect the future of our fragile marine life and ecosystems.

  • Divers for the Environment – EDA’s free quarterly magazine
  • The Dive MENA Expo – Co-located at the Dubai International Boat Show
  • Digital Online –  Annual Underwater Photography and Film Competition
  • EDA Movie Screenings – Quarterly documentary screenings at Deep Dive Dubai, (with online streaming for international members)
  • Reef Check – EcoDiver Training Courses and surveys
  • Cleanup Arabia– Annual Clean-up Campaign

Arab Beekeeping Association

The Arab Beekeeping Association (APIARAB) is a non-governmental organization based in the United Arab Emirates that is committed to promoting the development and protection of the bee sector in the Arab world. The association’s mission is to use scientific, technical, and environmental means to guide beekeepers and create a stronger, more sustainable beekeeping industry. To further advance the development of beekeeping, the organization helps regulate beekeeping in the Arab world and works closely with international societies. APIARAB helps establish databases for statistics, information, and scientific research about beekeeping in arid environments, including topics such as bee behavior, impact of climate change on beekeeping, and bee diseases.

Azraq

Azraq is a non-profit marine conservation organization in the UAE with a mission to protect nearby oceanic ecosystems and preserve the biodiversity of species. Azraq educates through awareness programs and motivates individuals and communities alike to make an impact in marine eco-sustainability. The organization targets pertinent issues such as climate change, ocean pollution, endangered marine life, and overexploitation of resources in various campaigns. Azraq envisions a world where oceans are healthy and flourishing while safeguarding delicate ecosystems for future generations.

Emirates Environmental Group

Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) is a nonprofit devoted to bettering the environment through the means of education, community involvement, and action programs. Founded in 1991, EEG has consistently worked on addressing a number of environmental issues from environmental protection to waste management. With being one of the most prestigious environmental programs in the Middle East, EEG has been able to implement a number of recycling initiatives that had yet to be a key idea in the UAE.

Emirates Green Building Council

Emirates Green Building Council is a non-profit organization that promotes and educates infrastructural sustainability with the built environment. EmiratesGBC encourages the implementation of green building policies and regulations to advance green building principles in the UAE. Since its formation in 2006, the organization has gained 150 members, representing individuals interested in Green Building in the UAE regions, and has collaborated with several business partners for long-term development goals.

Emirates Marine Environmental Group

Emirates Marine Environmental Group (EMEG) is the first marine environmental group in the United Arab Emirates and also Dubai’s oldest NGO. The organization’s mission is to preserve biodiversity in the UAE, which is reflected through their work in endangered species conservation, scientific research, and environmental education within the community. EMEG utilizes the Jebel Ali Marine Reserve as a site to develop education camps that teach about regional environmental threats. EMEG also works with local community members in planting projects to restore mangrove and coral reef ecosystems damaged by human activities.
